An open guitar case on the street: the international symbol for busking. To busk means to play music or otherwise perform in a public space for donations. As street performers, our craft is judged by the amount of money dropped into a box at our feet, and yet to us it feels like art in its purest form. Mark goes into detail on how they went out multiple times and to many different locations and compared their daily take. Not bad if it is not your main source of income. Busking can be a significant part of this income. Busking is a great way for working musicians to supplement their income without getting a regular job. I mean how many baristas does the world really need? It is also a great way for novice musicians to get performing experience and make connections with new fans. There are however a lot of obstacles but busking can be rewarding if you approach it like any other part of a music business plan.

Some buskers bring their toys. The important thing is to ask for permission from the supermarket. Generally, though, grocery shoppers are pretty damn chuffed to have their shopping day brightened up.
